Parts of a Story 826CHI

Part 1: Stories

The Stories video discusses two types of stories: personal narratives and memoirs. In this video you will write your own personal narrative and memoir. After writing, you will illustrate your stories. Use the Mind Map

Part 2: Themes & Main Ideas

This video discusses the difference between Themes & Main Ideas. You will learn about different types of themes and describe the main idea of a short story. You will also choose a theme to write and illustrate your own short story.

Part 3: Settings

In this video, you will learn about developing your setting! We’ll introduce the key parts of setting, read and analyze a setting from a chapter in a book, and use images to illustrate the time, place, and mood of a setting.

Part 4: Characters

In this video, you will learn about characters! We will discuss the different types of characters and how to create a character in your story.

By the end of this video, you will have written about and drawn your own hero and villain!

Part 5: The 3Ds

In this video, you will learn how to incorporate details, descriptions, and dialogue in your story. We will practice writing our own details, descriptions, and dialogue by using pictures, listening to sound, and drawing a comic strip.

Part 6: Emotions, Similes, and Metaphors

This video will introduce the use of similes and metaphors to describe emotion. We will review examples of emotions, descriptive language, similes, and metaphors. By the end of the video, you will have written your own similes and metaphors in a short story!

Part 7: Story Mountain

This is a four part series that focuses on writing your own story. By the end of the series, you will have written and illustrated your own story!

In part one of the Story Mountain Series, you will brainstorm a story, create your own characters, and create the setting of your story.

In part two of the Story Mountain Series introduces Story Mountain and teaches you the different parts of a story. In this video, you will start to plan, write, and draw the Beginning and the Rising Action of your story.

In part three of the Story Mountain Series, you will continue to plan, write, and draw your story. This video focuses on the Climax and the Falling Action of your story.

In part four of the Story Mountain Series, you will write the Resolution of your story. You will also edit, perfect, and illustrate more of your story. Once you have completed this video, you will have written and illustrated your own story!
