Meet Adrian Villareal
Hi my name is Adrian Villarreal, I am the STEM Facilitator for Project Exploration’s Brothers4Science at Carter G. Woodson Middle School and I couldn’t be more excited for this school year! I recently graduated in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience to help Chicago youth engage in STEM related activities and develop a love for STEM education. As a first generation college graduate and a Latino from Chicago’s South Side, I joined Project Exploration because I am eager to help young students from my communities gain exposure to STEM opportunities and help mold them into future leaders of education.
Why Project Exploration?
I believe in Project Exploration’s mission to help Chicago’s young students from below-resourced communities gain more exposure to STEM educational opportunities. My favorite part of being a STEM facilitator is being that role model who inspires young men to explore STEM careers and help them fulfill their passions despite their backgrounds and socioeconomic struggles. I really enjoy the fact that I can come to the program and truly make an everlasting impact on these young students.
Plan for Boys at Carter G. Woodson Middle School
For this year’s program, I plan on discovering different ideas that the students will bring to program, as well as, developing into a better educator myself concerning STEM topics. I know that the students will bring a lot to the program everyday and help make me a better person in the future.
