Introducing Sarah Tinsman, Project Exploration’s New Program Director
Sarah Tinsman is Project Exploration’s newest team member. She has jumped in with an emphasis on overseeing Programs and a new project in response to COVID-19, STEM@HOME.
Every child, regardless of their neighborhood, should have access to high-quality education. This belief has shaped Sarah Tinsman’s career path. Sarah earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of St. Thomas, and an M.Ed. from Southern Methodist University. In order to actively dismantle the barriers students face in urban education, Sarah taught in a number of schools that serve students of various cultural, language, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Most recently Sarah taught at a charter school in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. In her role as an experienced middle school science teacher, she has helped her students to increase their knowledge of science and experience a tremendous amount of growth in their grades and test scores. Sarah also served as the leader of her grade-level team and led their professional development efforts.
Now Sarah has taken on the new role as the Program Director for Project Exploration. Sarah brings her vast experience as a STEM professional and culturally responsive educator as she oversees our partnerships and the administration of all aspects of programs including planning, organizing, staffing, and leadership, as well as program operations and evaluation. Under Sarah’s leadership, Project Exploration will continue to ensure that all of PE’s students, and their greater community, have access to high-quality opportunities that inspire them to be lifelong learners.
