As we enter the Spring semester, we are excited to partner with 13 schools, alongside our STEM Learning Center, to provide STEM learning opportunities for students who are underrepresented in the sciences. Ken Cuellar, the principal of Dr. Jorge Prieto Math and Science Academy, shared that students “love the minds-on, hands-on exploration and experiments” they take part in during after PE’s afterschool programs. “These kinds of activities serve as a foundation for future [STEM] learning.”
Spring programming kicked off on February 12 at:
- Holy Family Ministry School
- George Leland Elementary School
- Nash Elementary School
- Dr. Jorge Prieto Math and Science Academy
- Milton Brunson Math and Science Specialty Elementary School
- Spencer Elementary Technology Academy
- Laura S. Ward Elementary School
- UChicago Charter Donoghue Campus
- UChicago Elementary Charter School
- Carter G. Woodson School
- Oscar Depriest Elementary School
- Helen M. Hefferan Public School
- Michele Clark Magnet High School
These programs, which advocate for greater self-efficacy and confidence for marginalized students, wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our partners. They contribute funding and volunteer time to help change the face of STEM. Meet the partners who make these partnerships and programs possible.
