The Challenge

The ability to hear is one of your five senses – your ears are incredible! Your ears help to take electromagnetic energy and turn it into something meaningful. Sounds waves enter your ear and travel through three areas – outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. The inner ear helps to take the vibrations and turn them into electrical signals for the nerve to send to the brain. The inner ear also helps you with your balance!

Let’s Experiment and Build!

Instructions

  1. Secure some cellophane over one end of a cardboard tube with tape
  2. Fill the tube with some rice – different amounts will give you different sounds
  3. We then cover the other end with cellophane and secure it with sticky tape
  4. Decorate your rainmaker!
