Hanny visited the West Side STEM Learning Center (SLC) during our first week of summer camp, and led an activity with the students, a coin purse made from Capri Sun pouches, while explaining to them how she came up with the bag design, how she sourced the manufacturing in China and the logistics on getting them shipped to her warehouse here in Illinois.
During the eight week camp, students have had the opportunity to dissect frogs and sharks, program robots, build wind chimes and ArtBots, build a water pump designed for use on Mars, and learn all about the mechanics that go into building a race car.
The PE team retreat held at Glenhagen Farm Retreat, in Princeton, IL brought together a newly restructured team.
Project Exploration works to ensure STEM summer programs are hands-on, rigorous, and fun! We aim to foster natural curiosity and inquiry, so participants begin to design their questions and problems, in addition to solutions.
Project Exploration has cultivated deep relationships with key stakeholders in the Austin neighborhood in the effort to identify and close opportunity gaps in the STEM learning ecosystem for the community’s youth. As a result of these conversations, Project Exploration is leveraging available space at one of the local public schools to develop the West Side STEM Learning Center (SLC)
